CSM elastomers are synthetic rubber based on polyethylene.They are well- known for their resistance to atmospheric conditions along with their resistance to many acids and alkalis  such as nitric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids.

Vulcanized forms of chlorosulfonated polyethylene are highly resistant to the deteriorating effects of ozone, sunlight,oxygen, extreme weather, heat, oil and chemicals.
